The box office collection for ‘Awarapan 2’ on its inaugural day extended beyond domestic shores, with an estimated Rs 2 crore garnered from overseas markets. This robust international showing contributed to an impressive worldwide gross of approximately Rs 27.20 crore, cementing its status as a global contender from the very beginning.
This opening marks a pivotal moment in Emraan Hashmi’s career, as ‘Awarapan 2’ has become his biggest opener to date. Prior to this, his most successful opening day was with ‘Baadshaho’ in 2017, which accumulated Rs 12.60 crore net. Interestingly, the film’s strong showing was further amplified by walk-in audiences and spot bookings, as its advance bookings had initially predicted a figure of Rs 11.36 crore, including blocked seats. Comparing its performance to the original ‘Awarapan’, released in 2007, the sequel has delivered an exponentially stronger opening. The first film managed only about Rs 79 lakh on its first day and accumulated roughly Rs 2.88 crore net over its entire opening weekend. ‘Awarapan 2’ has surpassed these figures multiple times over on its opening day alone, underscoring the enduring popularity of Emraan Hashmi and his character, Shivam Pandit, nearly two decades after the original.
