Emraan Hashmi’s ‘Awarapan 2’ Shatters Records: Becomes 2026’s Latest Box Office Phenomenon
Emraan Hashmi has firmly re-established his dominance at the box office with his latest release, Awarapan 2. The romantic action drama, which serves as a highly anticipated sequel, has defied industry expectations to become one of the most successful Bollywood outings of 2026. As the film continues its strong theatrical run, it is now rapidly closing in on the coveted Rs. 150 crore milestone.
A Steady Second Week
Following an explosive debut—buoyed by the Independence Day holiday window—the film has demonstrated remarkable consistency. After a successful second weekend that saw collections of Rs. 8.25 crore and Rs. 9 crore on its ninth and tenth days respectively, the film successfully cleared its “second Monday test.”
On Day 11, the Nitin Kakkar directorial pulled in a solid Rs. 2.75 crore net from 11,344 shows. With these figures, the film’s total India net collection now stands at an impressive Rs. 139.00 crore, with its total India gross reaching Rs. 165.75 crore. The project is currently hovering just a whisker away from the Rs. 140 crore net domestic mark.
Breaking Records and Setting New Benchmarks
The commercial success of Awarapan 2 is best illustrated by its profitability. According to trade analysts, the film has achieved an estimated profit of nearly 215% in just over a week, effectively surpassing the profit margins of Hashmi’s own 2004 cult classic, Murder, which stood at 200%.
In terms of the 2026 leaderboard, the film has officially climbed to the position of the fifth-highest-grossing Bollywood release of the year. By surpassing the lifetime collection of Welcome To The Jungle (Rs. 137.93 crore), the film has signaled its intent to climb even higher. Its next primary target is the ensemble comedy Dhamaal 4; given the current momentum and sustained positive word-of-mouth, industry experts believe it could overtake Dhamaal 4 before the conclusion of its second week.
A Star-Studded Triumph
The success of the film is being credited to both the legacy of the Awarapan brand and the strong performances of its cast. Featuring Emraan Hashmi in a career-defining turn, the film is bolstered by the presence of Disha Patani and veteran actress Shabana Azmi, both of whom play pivotal roles that have resonated well with audiences.
As the film moves into its third week, the box office collection trajectory suggests that Awarapan 2 is far from finished. With no major releases threatening its screen count, the film is expected to continue its golden run, further cementing Emraan Hashmi’s reputation as a reliable crowd-puller in the modern era of Indian cinema.
