DHAKA – August 11, 2026 – Bangladesh has pressed India to accelerate the extradition of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and reiterated its demand for the return of individuals implicated in the murder of Osman Hadi.
These matters were central to discussions held today during a courtesy call by Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi on Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the Secretariat, a press official confirmed.
During their meeting, Prime Minister Rahman emphasized the importance of cultivating a conducive environment to further strengthen bilateral relations between the two nations. High Commissioner Trivedi, in turn, briefed the Prime Minister on his experiences during his initial two months in Dhaka and engaged in a broader discussion concerning various facets of Bangladesh-India relations.
Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman, Prime Minister’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir, and other relevant officials were also in attendance at the meeting.
