The body of a man from Luton who died suddenly has been sent to his family in India with the help of a Bedford charity.
SEVA Trust UK repatriated the body of Tejinder Singh Janjua to his village in Punjab after he died unexpectedly three weeks ago.
The 32-year-old had been living in Luton for three years after coming to join his wife, an intensive care nurse working in the UK.
Tejinder had been working for HS2 Carney Construction when he became sick and was taken to hospital, where he died a day later.
The Bedford-based charity arranged the repatriation of Tejinder’s body to Punjab to make sure that his parents were able to see him one last time and perform their traditional last rites.
SEVA Trust UK thanked the High Commission of India in London, Cllr Geetha Morla from Milton Keynes, Varinder Khaira and Southall Funeral Service for “their invaluable cooperation in ensuring the dignified and timely return of Tejinder’s body to his native village in Punjab”.
Charity representatives in India met with Tejinder’s parents and paid their respects at his funeral in his native village on July 31.
