A pupil brought a blade into a Birmingham primary school in a second weapon incident in a matter of months.

The child showed a box cutter, which belonged to a family member, to a fellow pupil at Paget Primary School in Pype Hayes on Wednesday, May 13.

The school said the blade was not exposed at any point, there was no threat to either pupils or staff and the situation was “dealt with immediately”.

Parents said it was another “concerning” incident. It followed a separate incident involving a knife which was brought into school by a pupil.

It was shown to a small number of pupils in October last year.

Responding to the latest incident in a letter to parents, acting headteacher Lisa Dodd said: “A pupil brought a box cutter belonging to a family member onto the school site.

“The item was shown to another pupil, but at no point was the blade exposed nor was there any threat to either pupils or staff.

“The matter was dealt with immediately by staff in line with our safeguarding and behaviour procedures.

“Following a full risk assessment, additional support measures will also be put in place for the individual concerned.
