Bombay High Court Greenlights OTT Release of ‘Bandar’ with Mandated Disclaimers

MUMBAI — The Bombay High Court has cleared the path for the digital streaming release of the Hindi film Bandar, bringing a legal dispute surrounding the project to a close. The court’s decision allows the film to debut on OTT platforms, provided the producers include specific disclaimers to address concerns raised during the proceedings.

The case saw a high-profile legal battle featuring a team of prominent advocates representing the various stakeholders involved in the production and distribution of the film.

Representing the plaintiff, advocates Rajiv Singh, Sufiya Khan, and Mansha Bhatia presented the arguments on behalf of the woman who initiated the legal challenge. The defense for the individual associated with the film, identified as Oberoi, was led by advocates Yash Joglekar and Kajal S.

Zee Entertainment, a key party in the distribution landscape, was represented by a legal team comprising Hiren Kamod, Kunal Parekh, and Nirali Atha, who were briefed by Dua Associates.

Meanwhile, the production house, Saffron Magicworks, saw its interests represented by Senior Advocate Ashish Kamat. He was supported by a robust legal team including Rashmin Khandekar, Anand Mohan, Ameet Naik, Madhu Godadia, Amruta T, Siddharth Shah, and Kunal, all briefed by the firm Anand and Naik.

Following the court’s deliberation on the matter, the bench directed that the OTT release must proceed with the inclusion of court-mandated disclaimers. This ruling serves as a significant development for the film’s producers, ensuring the project can move forward while addressing the legal sensitivities raised by the petitioner.

The order effectively balances the creative freedom of the filmmakers with the concerns of the opposing parties, setting the stage for Bandar to reach its digital audience.
