A 13-YEAR-OLD boy has tragically died and a woman has been hospitalised following a horror motorway collision. Emergency crews rushed to respond to the M4 in Wiltshire after receiving reports of a smash between junctions 16 and 17 last night.

A teenage boy has died and a woman was taken to hospital following a two-vehicle collision on a motorway.

Emergency crews, including the air ambulance service, responded to reports of a crash between junctions 16 and 17 on the M4 in Wiltshire on Saturday night.

It is understood that a Toyota vehicle collided with a Renault van.

The boy, 13, was pronounced dead at the scene while the woman was taken to hospital. Both were passengers in the Toyota, police have said.

Neither of the vehicles’ drivers were seriously injured in the collision.

The motorway’s westbound carriageway was closed following the crash while the eastbound was held for two hours to allow air ambulances to land.

Wiltshire Police is now appealing for anyone with any information or dash-cam footage of the incident to come forward.

It said: ‘We need to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who may have dashcam footage.

‘Please contact the Serious Collision Investigation team on 01225 694597 quoting log number 398 of yesterday’s date (18/07).’
