Football isn’t coming home early – as pubs in Jersey will be permitted to open until 4am on Monday for England’s World Cup match.
The Bailiff’s Chambers has approved a special extension to licensing hours to allow supporters to watch the final-16 fixture, which kicks off at 1am on Monday 6 July.
The decision, announced today, follows consultation with industry representatives, the States of Jersey Police and the Honorary Police.
All venues already holding a World Cup licence extension will be able to remain open until 4am, with last orders expected to be called at 3.30am.
Venues anticipating crowds of more than 60 people will be required to provide door staff in line with existing licensing conditions.
The Bailiff’s Chambers has instructed any venue wishing to take advantage of the extension to notify officials by midday on Saturday 4 July, enabling authorities to plan for licensed premises operating outside normal hours.
Venue operators have been reminded that they remain responsible for ensuring patrons behave appropriately throughout the event.
It was confirmed last night that UK pubs and bars had been granted permission to open until 5am on Monday morning.
