Brentford Secure Agreement for West Ham Defender El Hadji Malick Diouf in £40m Deal

Brentford have moved significantly closer to strengthening their defensive ranks after reaching a verbal agreement with West Ham United to sign left-back El Hadji Malick Diouf in a deal that could rise to £40 million.

The 21-year-old Senegal international, who has been a primary target for the Bees throughout the current transfer window, is set to join for an initial fee of £35 million, with an additional £5 million tied to performance-related add-ons. West Ham have officially accepted the bid, and the player has been granted permission to undergo a medical, bringing him one step closer to a return to the Premier League.

Diouf’s move marks a swift return to the top tier of English football, having suffered relegation with the Hammers at the conclusion of the previous campaign. Despite the club’s struggles, the young full-back enjoyed a productive individual season, making 34 appearances and providing five assists across all competitions.

His departure represents a substantial financial gain for West Ham, who signed the defender from Slavia Prague just one year ago for a fee of £19 million. While he featured in the club’s Championship opener against Burnley earlier this season, Diouf has notably been excluded from the matchday squad for their last two fixtures, signaling that his departure was imminent.

Diouf’s stock has risen rapidly over the past twelve months. After breaking into the Senegal national team setup last year, he continued his development on the international stage by featuring in four matches during this summer’s World Cup.

For Brentford, the acquisition is the latest in a busy summer of recruitment.
