Carlos Alcaraz has taken to social media to confirm he will withdraw from Wimbledon this year as he continues to recover from a wrist injury
Carlos Alcaraz has confirmed he will withdraw from Wimbledon as he continues to recover from a wrist injury. Alcaraz suffered the injury at the Barcelona Open, which has kept him out of action through the clay-court swing.
The Spaniard has missed the Madrid Open and the Italian Open this year and has already revealed he will not compete at Roland Garros. And now Alcaraz, who won the title in 2023 and 2024 before losing to Jannik Sinner in last year’s final, has confirmed he would not participate at the All England Club this year.
“My recovery is going well and I feel much better, but unfortunately I’m still not ready to be able to play, and that’s why I have to withdraw from the grass-court swing at Queen’s and Wimbledon,” a post on his official X account read.

“They are two really special tournaments for me and I’ll miss them a lot. We keep working to return as soon as possible!”
Alcaraz started the year by beating Novak Djokovic in the final of the Australian Open to complete a career Grand Slam, adding to his two Wimbledon crowns and two French Open triumphs in 2024 and 2025.
Aged 22 at the time, he became the youngest man to achieve the feat, but speaking earlier this week, former British tennis star Greg Rusedski predicted the world No. 2 would be forced to miss Wimbledon this year due to his injury.
He said: “With Carlos out, I don’t think Carlos is going to be back for Wimbledon this year. I think, you know, that’s where Djokovic is thinking, okay, that’s where I want to peak.
“That’s where I want to be as healthy as possible. But I’m going to try to get my reps in through Paris, maybe play a few tournaments on the grass, and then peak for Wimbledon. Never discount him.
“If Novak’s healthy and the body’s there, he can beat anybody. He’s still that good. But it kind of feels like this is like crunchtime moments coming up from the next few weeks.”
Before he added: “We always miss Carlos, but he’s doing the right thing. Health is your wealth.
“He doesn’t want to be like Juan Martin Del Potro, who came back too early, too many wrist injuries, never managed to fulfill his huge potential.
“What a great player we lost there for long periods of time. And until he’s ready, he won’t be back.”
