China Reaffirms Zangnan Region as Its Territory, Rejects Indian "Arunachal Pradesh" Claims
TOKYO – China on Monday reiterated its claim over the Zangnan region, firmly rejecting India’s designation of the area as "Arunachal Pradesh." This statement came after India reportedly published "standard names" for 27 locations within "Arunachal Pradesh" on August 7th.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun issued a statement asserting China’s position. India’s Ministry of Home Affairs had stated that formalizing the names on the map was intended to "facilitate their accurate recognition and better awareness among the public at large."
However, Guo described India’s efforts to replace historically Chinese place names with its own "standard names" as "illegal, null and void." He further emphasized that such actions would not alter the fundamental reality that the Zangnan region remains Chinese territory.
