CNBC issues urgent breaking news alert as Donald Trump left embarrassed | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

Donald Trump was dealt a major blow as CNBC came to a halt for a breaking announcement. CNBC Business News editor Rich Santelli revealed that US inflation has jumped to its highest level in nearly three years as soaring energy prices continue to squeeze households.

Food prices also increased, while everyday costs including clothing, airline tickets and household goods became more expensive.

Economists warned the latest spike in prices is beginning to hit workers’ pay packets, with wage growth now struggling to keep up with inflation.

The update left fans furious, with political commentator Brian Krassenstein writing on X: “BREAKING: April CPI data is showing Inflation is up MORE than expected. Consumer prices rose 3.8% annually in April, the highest since May 2023 Thank’s Trump. Oh and this is not even factoring in the huge jump in gas we saw in the last 2 weeks.”

Another commented: “Trump said he’d make everything more affordable day one. Instead nobody can afford groceries and gas is 6 dollars a gallon. He’s the worst leader in the world.”

A second said: “When you go to war with Iran for literally no reason and just down oil supply route for the entire globe this is what happens. Trump is an idiot.”

A third posted: “Wait till the end of the decade, 3.8% will probably look good compared to what is coming.”

Speaking in the Oval Office the same day, he said the month-long ceasefire is on “massive life support” and likened it to when a doctor says: “Sir, your loved one has approximately a one percent chance of living.”
