Donation to local nursery secures safe travel for kiddies

Following a financial donation from FCC Environment to the Highmore Hedgehogs Nursery in Hereford, a Turtle Kiddy Bus is making local community outings possible.

The purchase of the Turtle Kiddy Bus now means that small groups of children can be taken on local trips in the community in a safe and practical way to enhance their learning experiences. Something that hasn’t been possible up to this point for some of the youngest children at the nursery.

FCC Environment’s donation to fund the Kiddy bus directly supports the social interaction and local engagement of the young children in the nursery’s care as they explore the local community safely.

Emily Barksby, Room Leader, from Highmore Hedgehogs Nursery, said: “We’re thrilled to have been successful with our application of funding. The Kiddie Bus will transform and dramatically broaden the experiences we are able to give the children. Making short trips in the local area hasn’t been possible before so we’re excited to be now able to do this while crucially keeping the children safe.”

Jonathan Towne, Area Manager from FCC Environment, said: “We are really pleased to support this initiative and fund a piece of equipment that will enrich the day-to-day activities of the nursery’s children.  By supporting this charitable education setting, we hope the impact benefits these local children for years to come.”

FCC Environment operates the Recyclables and Waste Collection contract in Herefordshire and the funding is part of the company’s commitment to supporting local community groups and charities through its corporate social responsibility sponsorship fund.
