Environment Agency issues pollution alert at two more Island beaches


Another pollution alert has been issued by the Environment Agency (EA) at two Isle of Wight beaches due to a sewage incident.

The EA has advised people against bathing at Totland Bay and Colwell Bay due to pollution from sewage.

Similar warnings are also in place at Gurnard Bay and Ryde following pollution.

The government agency has warned against bathing and swimming in and around the coastal locations.

The Isle of Wight Council has advised people to try not to come into direct contact with contaminated water and keep children and animals out of the water.

The authority said if people do make contact with polluted water, they should wash with soap and water and not hand sanitiser.
