Environmental action for Westminster – Westminster Labour Councillors

If Labour is reelected we will create a greener, healthier and more resilient city for everyone and lead the fight locally against climate change.

Labour Westminster is making our city greener, becoming one of the top ranked councils for tackling climate change and cutting carbon emissions by 27%.

We’ve rolled out food waste recycling across the city and electrified our waste fleet.  And we’ve taken action on flooding with new sustainable urban drainage.

We’ve taken action, while the Conservatives under Kemi Badenoch are abandoning their climate and environmental commitments.

If Labour is re-elected on May 7th our commitment to a fairer environment means we will:

  • Use Westminster’s world-leading retrofit first planning policy to push developers to extend and refurbish existing buildings in place of demolition to cut carbon emissions.
  • Cut red-tape for flat owners wanting to upgrade their windows with double glazing and provide more support to retrofit homes.
  • Plant more trees and improve biodiversity across our city.
  • Take further action on air quality
