Fox News Parts Ways with Longtime Anchor Maria Bartiromo

Fox News has announced that it is parting ways with veteran anchor Maria Bartiromo, bringing an end to her 12-and-a-half-year tenure at the network.

The announcement, delivered via a brief statement from a network spokesperson, signals a significant shift in the channel’s programming lineup. “We thank Maria for her work over the last 12 1/2 years and wish her all the best on her next chapter,” the statement read.

Bartiromo, who joined Fox in 2014 after establishing herself as a prominent financial journalist at CNBC, became a cornerstone of both the Fox News Channel and the Fox Business Network. Known for programs such as Mornings with Maria, her departure is already leading to structural changes; the network confirmed it will be rebranding her signature shows and transitioning to a rotating cast of guest anchors.

The move marks the departure of Maria Bartiromo, who has been a central figure in some of the most contentious chapters of the network’s recent history. A staunch supporter of Donald Trump, she faced intense scrutiny following the 2020 presidential election for her role in amplifying unfounded conspiracy theories regarding widespread voter fraud.

Her on-air commentary and the guests she platformed became key focal points in the historic defamation lawsuit brought against Fox News by Dominion Voting Systems. That legal battle, which centered on claims made about the company’s voting technology, concluded in 2023 with a landmark $787.5 million settlement just as the trial was slated to commence.

Beyond the Dominion case, Bartiromo has remained a central figure in ongoing legal challenges. She is prominently featured in a second multi-billion dollar defamation lawsuit filed against the network by a separate voting software company. Prior to today’s announcement, Bartiromo had been the only individual defendant in that litigation still employed by Fox News.

The network has not provided further details regarding the long-term future of her programs or the reasoning behind the timing of her exit.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
