GB News came to an unexpected halt minutes into their late-night show as they issued a major Donald Trump breaking news alert. On Saturday morning (May 2), Ben Leo returned to the airwaves to discuss the biggest news hitting the headlines. It didn’t take long for things to turn political, as the 36-year-old interrupted the usual format to deliver a major update on the Iran war.
He announced that President Trump has claimed that the US takeover of Cuba is imminent, as the war in the Middle East rages on. The broadcaster began: “Breaking news to the newsroom, President Donald Trump has said the United States will take over Cuba almost immediately.”

TV bosses then shared a clip from the White House, where the Republican leader shared “Cuba’s problems”. He began: “An architect who’s really talented and has done a lot of work for me, he’s got a beautiful Hispanic flair in particular, and he comes from originally a place called Cuba, which we will be taking over almost immediately.”
The room then erupted into laughter before he insisted: “Cuba’s got problems, we’ll finish one first [thought], I like to finish a job. On the way back from Iran, we’ll have the big USS Lincoln aircraft carrier, maybe the biggest in the world, we’ll have that come in and stop about 100 yards offshore, and they’ll say, ‘Thank you very much, we give up!’.”
It didn’t take long for viewers to flock to X – formerly known as Twitter – to share their thoughts on the worrying update online. One user fumed: “Before he does it, he’d better ask the American people if they want,” as another agreed: “He’ll lose that one, as well. If the US can’t beat the Houthis, what chance does it have against Cuba?
“If he tries, it will be a bloodbath with very high American casualties. The Cubans aren’t going to go down without a fight!” Meanwhile, others believe that the president was simply making a joke and insisted that his worrying comments are not to be taken seriously.
One viewer argued: “I believe he was joking”, as another echoed: “He was clearly joking, you morons.” A third chimed in with: “Are you kidding me? Don’t you people have any sense of humour?” It comes after Cuba’s president has urged his people to “get ready” for a US invasion, warning President Trump that his country will defeat the Americans.
Cuband President Miguel Díaz-Canel said last month (April 16) that among the “absolutely challenging” issues the island is experiencing, there is also the threat of a US invasion, Correo del Sur reported.
