A new GB News poll shows Nigel Farage is the most popular leader among union members and the top choice for Prime Minister, as Labour and Reform UK tie at 28%
GB News Breakfast faced disruption this morning as the broadcaster revealed that a second batch of papers concerning Lord Mandelson’s nomination as Britain’s ambassador to America would be published on Monday. A government spokesman confirmed the documents “will be among the largest publications ever laid in Parliament”.
Former Downing Street aide Oscar Reddrop responded to the announcement and highlighted fresh polling showing Nigel Farage as the most favoured leader amongst trade union members. The research revealed both Labour and Reform parties level at 28 per cent, with Labour experiencing a 20-point decline since 2024.
It also demonstrated a dramatic surge in support for Reform, prompting GB News host Dawn Neesom to observe: “Many union members are now considering that Reform would be a better government.”
The political strategist responded: “Out of everything, and I’m a Conservative, just start with that, out of every bit of polling, information or story I see on Reform UK, that is the most impressive, interesting bit of data that’s come out. It’s fascinating that the takeover of the population in this country was way out left, and now Reform is taking over.”
Nigel Farage currently holds the position as the most positively regarded party leader amongst trade union members and represents the top pick for Prime Minister. He is additionally viewed as the leader who would deliver the most for working-class people.
The Reform UK leader told The Times: “This polling tells me exactly what I have seen on the campaign trail. Labour is no longer the party of the patriotic working class. That mantle now belongs to Reform, which is now the party of those who work hard but for whom the system doesn’t work.”
A striking 23 per cent of union members revealed they would rather see their union align with Reform instead of any of the established political parties if compelled to make a choice, reports the Express.
The JL Partners research surveyed a representative sample of 1,002 trade union members between May 14 and May 19. A Labour source responded: “Labour is, and always has been, the party of working people, from delivering the biggest upgrade to workers’ rights in a generation to boosting the national minimum and living wage.
“There is still more to be done to ease the pressure of the cost of living and put more money back in people’s pockets, and that is exactly what we will continue working every day to deliver.”
