Kurukshetra University Vice-Chancellor Prof Som Nath Sachdeva released the Hindi Department’s Activity Calendar 2026–27, outlining a comprehensive schedule of literary, cultural, academic and research-oriented activities to be conducted throughout the year.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Som Nath Sachdeva said the activity calendar would strengthen the department’s academic culture while providing students and research scholars with structured opportunities to participate in a wide range of intellectual and cultural programmes.
He emphasised that the University’s vision extends beyond classroom teaching to nurturing students’ awareness of language, literature, culture, research and social responsibility.
He noted that the Hindi Department’s initiative would help foster creativity, research aptitude, communication skills and leadership qualities among students.
Chairperson of the Hindi Department, Prof Maha Singh Punia, said the Activity Calendar 2026–27 had been designed in a way that each month would focus on an eminent literary figure, an important language day or a significant cultural theme.
Maha Singh Punia further said that, apart from commemorative events, the department would organise interactive sessions with eminent writers, book discussions, research dialogues and deliberations on folk literature, folk songs, folk tales, folk culture, folk theatre and rural life on the second and fourth Thursday of every month.
Those present on the occasion included Prof Sunita Siroha, Dr Pritam Singh, Dr Vandana, Dr Jasbir Singh, Dr Hariom Phulia, and research scholars Naresh and Yogesh.
