Actor Huma Qureshi has announced that the fifth season of the hit political drama series “Maharani” has gone on floors.The actor shared the update on her Instagram Stories, confirming that filming has commenced for the new season.“Maharani” features Qureshi as Rani Bharti, a homemaker who unexpectedly becomes the chief minister of Bihar after her husband is forced to step down.Initially dismissed as a political novice, Rani gradually transforms into a shrewd and formidable leader as she navigates the state’s turbulent political landscape.Created by Subhash Kapoor, the Sony LIV series is loosely inspired by political developments in Bihar during the 1990s.Across four seasons, the show has chronicled Rani’s rise from an unlikely politician to one of the most powerful figures in the state while exploring themes of power, corruption, caste politics and governance.The series also stars Sohum Shah, Amit Sial, Vineet Kumar, Kani Kusruti, Inaamulhaq, Anuja Sathe and Shweta Basu Prasad.
