India’s Ringg gets backing from Peak XV as it pushes voice AI past the phone call

Ringg Secures $10 Million Funding to Scale AI-Driven Enterprise Voice Solutions

In a market where consumers still overwhelmingly prefer the human touch of a phone call, India’s voice AI sector is seeing a massive surge in demand. Recognizing this, Ringg, a pioneering startup that processes over 20 million call attempts monthly, has raised $10 million in a fresh funding round led by Peak XV Partners.

This capital injection serves as an extension of the company’s Series A, bringing its total raise for the round to $15.5 million. The investment highlights the growing investor confidence in Voice AI as a critical tool for modern enterprise communication.

From Speech Lab to Enterprise Orchestrator

Originally founded as DesiVocal, the startup initially focused on developing proprietary text-to-speech models. However, the founders soon pivoted, realizing that high-volume, low-complexity use cases—such as simple lead qualification—often turned into a “price game” with little room for long-term customer loyalty.

Today, Ringg has positioned itself as an “orchestration layer” for enterprises. Rather than competing solely on raw model training, which can be prohibitively expensive, Ringg routes tasks to various AI models based on the specific needs of the workflow. This allows the startup to tackle high-value, complex operations that go beyond standard support calls.

Delivering Outcomes, Not Just Calls

Ringg’s current client roster includes industry titans like Flipkart, Cred, Practo, Groww, and PolicyBazaar. The startup is moving away from the perception of being a simple “voice agent” provider, instead marketing itself as a platform that guarantees tangible outcomes.

For instance, the company has deployed its voice agents across 1,200 clinics for the healthcare app Practo, handling everything from scheduling appointments to post-visit patient follow-ups. Furthermore, Ringg has begun diversifying its reach, expanding its automation capabilities into WhatsApp, chat, and browser-based support requests for clients such as Shell.

The Competitive Landscape

The race to define India’s AI landscape is heating up. The market is currently crowded with model builders like ElevenLabs and Deepgram, alongside local contenders like Sarvam and Smallest.ai. However, experts suggest that the real value in this space lies not just in the underlying models, but in the application layer—the companies that own the enterprise relationship and consistently deliver finished results.

“Because of their technical capabilities, they can actually do these hard-won enterprise workflows end-to-end,” said Rishen Kapoor, a principal at Peak XV. “They can complete high-value tasks like merchant onboarding and L1/L2 support with quality and consistency.”

Future Growth and Strategy

With a current team of 40—including a recent hiring spree of 15 staff members in just the last three months—Ringg is scaling quickly. The company is currently prioritizing the recruitment of forward-deployed engineers who can bridge the gap between technical infrastructure and enterprise product management.

While Ringg’s primary footprint remains in India, the startup is eyeing international growth not through direct sales, but by partnering with Global Capability Centers (GCCs) in India. By integrating its automation capacity into the offshore hubs used by multinationals, Ringg aims to redefine how the world’s largest enterprises handle their back-office and customer support operations.
