Here Are Three Sick Gibson Guitar Controllers Made For Stage Tour's Dec. 10 Release

Rhythm Gaming Returns: CRKD Unveils High-End Gibson Guitar Controllers for ‘Stage Tour’

The rhythm gaming genre is poised for a grand resurrection this winter. As the highly anticipated title Stage Tour prepares to launch on December 10 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and the upcoming Switch 2, it is bringing some serious hardware to the stage. Prolific peripheral manufacturer CRKD has officially announced a collaboration with RedOctane Games, unveiling a stunning lineup of Gibson-licensed guitar controllers designed to bridge the gap between nostalgia and modern performance.

A Masterclass in Design

The Stage Tour Pro Guitar Collection pays homage to rock history with three distinct models: the Gibson Les Paul Oxblood Edition, the Gibson SG Midnight Blue Edition, and the 8K Gibson Explorer: 20th Anniversary Edition.

Each controller is more than just a decorative piece. The SG Midnight Blue Edition is a particularly deep cut for fans, modeled after a rare, abandoned PS2-era controller concept originally designed for Guitar Hero II. Meanwhile, the 8K Gibson Explorer honors the legendary X-Plorer controller—a staple for fans of the franchise’s golden age—updated with a modern, stark-white aesthetic.

Pro-Grade Specifications

Beyond their iconic silhouettes, these controllers are built for elite performance. The entire line features Hall effect click strum bars, advanced mechanical frets, and integrated LED neck lighting.

Latency, the traditional enemy of rhythm gamers, has been aggressively tackled by CRKD:

  • Les Paul and SG Models: These feature 500Hz polling rates in wireless mode and a staggering 1,000Hz when wired.
  • 8K Gibson Explorer: The flagship of the collection boasts an industry-leading 8,000Hz polling rate in both wired and wireless modes, ensuring every note is registered with absolute precision.

Pricing and Compatibility

Developed in partnership with the veterans at RedOctane, these controllers mirror the layout of the standard Stage Tour Kramer Wireless Guitar Controller, ensuring a familiar experience for veteran players. The launch pricing and platform support are as follows:

  • Gibson SG (PlayStation/PC): Retailing at $130, this officially licensed PlayStation controller is compatible with PS4, PS5, and PC.
  • Gibson Les Paul (Xbox/PC): Priced at $130 for the Xbox Series X/S/One/PC edition, or $120 for the Android/PC/Switch variant.
  • 8K Gibson Explorer (PC/Android/Switch): Available for $130. Note that shipping for the Explorer is slated for mid-January, whereas the other models are expected to arrive alongside the Stage Tour release on December 10.

Alongside these guitars, Stage Tour will support a full suite of instruments, including an official drum kit ($200) and a wireless microphone ($30). While the drum kit will not be compatible with the Switch 2 at launch, players can still utilize Joy-Cons or a Pro Controller to handle percussion duties.

Pre-orders for the entire collection are now live via the official Stage Tour website and the CRKD storefront. For fans who have been waiting years to dust off their plastic axe skills, this collection offers a premium, high-performance path back to the digital stage.
