ISB&M Alumni Reunite After 25 Years, Describe College Days as Their ‘First Startup’
PUNE: In a nostalgic yet forward-looking event, the 2001–2003 batch of the International School of Business & Media (ISB&M), Nande, recently gathered on campus for an emotional alumni reunion. Marking nearly a quarter-century since their graduation, the attendees reflected on their journey from students to industry leaders, crediting the institute for fostering the grit and entrepreneurial spirit that defined their careers.
The event, which saw the presence of ISB&M Founder-President Dr. Pramod Kumar, served as a platform for graduates to reconnect with their roots and pledge their ongoing support to the next generation of professionals.
“Our First Startup”
For the alumni of the early 2000s, ISB&M was more than just a place of learning—it was a crucible for growth. Recalling the challenges of the institution’s early days, they noted that both the college and its students were tasked with carving out an identity from scratch.
“ISB&M was not merely a college for us; it was our first startup,” the alumni shared. “We learned how to operate with limited resources, take initiative, and solve complex problems.”
Sandeep Bakshi, a member of the batch, highlighted the unique culture of the time: “During our student days, we were responsible for everything from managing the library to the daily operations of the institute. This sense of ownership taught us how to build and run an organization, a lesson that has proven invaluable in managing my own company today.”
Legacy and Mentorship
The reunion underscored the lasting influence of the institution’s pedagogical approach. Neeraj Kapoor, who now works in the healthcare sector in Delhi-Gurugram, reflected on the guidance provided by the Founder-President.
“Dr. Pramod Kumar was the soul of the institution for us. His mantra of ‘never give up’ remains a guiding force whenever I face professional challenges,” Kapoor said.
Dr. Pramod Kumar expressed his pride in the achievements of his former students, many of whom now hold senior leadership roles in multinational corporations and the media industry, while others have successfully launched their own ventures. “Seeing the enthusiasm of these alumni after 20-plus years is deeply satisfying,” Dr. Kumar said. “Their experiences provide a roadmap for our current students, helping them navigate the complexities of the modern workforce.”
Pledging a Knowledge-Driven Future
Beyond sharing memories, the alumni are taking concrete steps to give back. Recognizing that the nature of employment is shifting, they advised current students to prioritize skill development and innovation over traditional job-seeking.
The group has already begun contributing to the campus ecosystem by:
- Facilitating placement opportunities within their own organizations.
- Conducting guest lectures, workshops, and group discussions.
- Providing financial and logistical support for sports and campus initiatives.
As the ISB&M alumni look to the future, their commitment remains clear: to ensure that the institution that helped launch their careers continues to produce a resilient, knowledge-driven generation capable of creating the opportunities of tomorrow.
