Box Office Report: ‘Bethlehem Kudumba Unit’ Cruises Past Rs 200 Crore as ‘Khalifa’ Faces Monday Slump

The Malayalam film industry is witnessing a tale of two different box office journeys. While the Nivin Pauly-starrer Bethlehem Kudumba Unit continues to dominate the screens and shatter records, the Prithviraj Sukumaran-led Khalifa is experiencing a significant cooling-off period as it enters its third week.

‘Khalifa’ Struggles to Maintain Momentum

Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Khalifa has hit a rough patch at the domestic box office. According to data from Sacnilk, the film recorded a sharp decline on its second Monday (Day 12), bringing in an estimated Rs 36 lakhs net across 610 screenings.

This figure represents a steep 60.9% drop from the Rs 92 lakhs the film managed on its second Sunday. With an occupancy rate falling to 19% on Monday, the film’s total India net collection now stands at Rs 19.94 crore, with a domestic gross of Rs 23.08 crore. When accounting for its overseas performance of Rs 19.70 crore, the Khalifa box office collections have reached a worldwide gross of Rs 42.78 crore.

‘Bethlehem Kudumba Unit’ Remains Unstoppable

In stark contrast, Bethlehem Kudumba Unit continues its impressive run. The film, which also stars Mamitha Baiju, crossed the monumental Rs 200 crore global milestone on its 11th day.

On Day 11 alone, the movie pulled in an estimated Rs 6 crore net in India across 2,357 shows. While this marked a 42.3% decline from its second Sunday—a standard trend for weekdays—the film’s underlying strength remains robust. The Malayalam version boasted an impressive 47.88% overall occupancy, with night shows surging to 60.25% capacity.

The film has now accumulated a staggering Rs 88.45 crore net in India, with domestic gross figures reaching Rs 103.20 crore. Coupled with a massive Rs 102 crore from international markets, Bethlehem Kudumba Unit has secured a worldwide total of approximately Rs 205.20 crore.

Regional Breakdown

For Bethlehem Kudumba Unit, Kerala remains the primary stronghold, contributing a significant Rs 6.35 crore to the daily gross. While the film has found success across other Indian states—including Karnataka (Rs 35 lakhs) and Tamil Nadu (Rs 20 lakhs)—its consistent performance in its home state has been the engine behind its record-breaking run.
