Lakeland Expands Global Footprint with New Vietnam Cleanroom Facility
Lakeland Fire + Safety has officially announced the completion of qualification testing for its state-of-the-art cleanroom manufacturing facility in Vietnam. This strategic milestone marks a significant expansion of the company’s production capabilities for specialized garments designed for highly regulated, critical environments.
The site is now fully operational following a rigorous testing phase. To confirm the facility’s ability to meet stringent industry standards, the initial production lot underwent independent SGS Helmke Drum testing. The results were exceptional, with the garments achieving Class 1 cleanliness ratings according to the IEST RP-CC003.5 standard.
The Class 1 certification—the most demanding classification for particle emissions—was confirmed by measuring the release of particles sized 0.5µm or larger. During the testing protocol, the garments recorded a remarkably low count of just 216 particles, underscoring the high quality of the new production line.
Strengthening Supply Chain Resilience
The qualification of the Vietnam site integrates the location into Lakeland’s existing global manufacturing network, which previously relied heavily on its operations in China. According to company leadership, this dual-hub approach in Asia provides the supply chain flexibility necessary to respond to fluctuating market demand and ensures greater continuity for customers operating in sensitive, high-stakes environments.
"This achievement reflects the dedication and collaboration of our manufacturing and quality teams," said Jim Jenkins, President, Chief Executive Officer, and Executive Chairman of Lakeland. "As we continue executing our manufacturing strategy, we are building a more resilient, more flexible global footprint that better positions Lakeland to support customers while allocating production capacity to our highest-value opportunities."
Strategic Reallocation of Resources
The new capacity in Vietnam is expected to optimize Lakeland’s internal operations significantly. By shifting a portion of its critical environment production to the new facility, the company will allow its Chinese manufacturing operations to pivot, placing a renewed strategic focus on its fire protection product lines tailored for markets in Australia and Hong Kong.
Industry analysts note that this move is a key component of Lakeland’s broader goal to improve utilization across its Asian assets. As the company continues to scale its critical environment offerings, the Vietnam facility will serve as a cornerstone of its commitment to delivering high-performance protective gear to global industries, including pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and electronics manufacturing.
