‘Life saver’ £12 dry eye cream for hay fever praised by eczema sufferers

The highly-rated Hydrosil Dry Eye Gel on Amazon has shoppers calling it a ‘real life saver’ for hay fever, eczema and menopause-related dry eyes

A dry eye cream available on Amazon is catching shoppers’ attention thanks to its soothing and calming benefits. For anyone dealing with dry, irritated and inflamed eyelids, eczema or hay fever, it might prove an excellent choice – with one customer even hailing it as a ‘real life saver’.

The Hydrosil Dry Eye Gel (15ml) is currently available on Amazon for £11.95. It is said to provide rapid, cooling relief from dry, itchy, and sore skin around the eyes, with some users reporting noticeable improvement within one to three days of use.

Free from steroids, parabens, and harsh ingredients, this light, non-greasy gel is suitable for delicate skin around the eyes, the brand says. It’s also fragrance-free and gentle for daily use, and it is said to be ideal for skin that feels drier or more delicate over time.

Whether caused by pollen, seasonal shifts, computer use or the menopause, the manufacturer claims Hydrosil maintains moisture and comfort around the eye region (although it shouldn’t replace any prescribed treatments). The product holds Amazon’s Choice status and over 300 units have been purchased during the past month.

According to the NHS, hay fever is a widespread allergy that triggers sneezing, coughing and watery eyes. While sufferers cannot eliminate it entirely, there are measures they can take to alleviate their symptoms. “Often swollen, sore and dry eyelids are one of the most uncomfortable symptoms of hay fever and the one that can last long after the other symptoms have started to calm down,” says consultant dermatologist Dr Eva Melegh, reports the Daily Record.

It is an Amazon’s Choice product

“The skin on the eyelids is much more vulnerable than almost anywhere else on the body because it is thinner and doesn’t have the same protective fat layer beneath. Eyelid skin also has a relatively high concentration of blood vessels, which makes the skin in this area much more sensitive and prone to inflammatory reactions.

“Add to that the constant exposure of the eyelids and surrounding skin around the eyes to tears from streaming hay fever eyes plus abrasive rubbing and external bacteria from itchy gritty feeling eyes and you have multiple triggers for swollen and irritated eyelids.”

For an alternative product, shoppers could try this Boots Allergy Eye Mist (10ml) for £10.19. The brand says it contains ingredients to help soothe and relieve irritated, itchy and watery eyes associated with allergens, such as pollen, dust and pollution.

Or at LookFantastic, there’s the SVR PALPEBRAL Ultra-Soothing Eczema Eye Cream, which costs £18.50. This is described as a gentle treatment that calms and soothes the feeling of sensitive and itchy eyes, providing 24 hours of hydration.

The Hydrosil Dry Eye Gel (15ml) has been rated highly on Amazon, with shoppers leaving an average overall rating of four out of five stars. One said: “This is the only gel I can put on my eye area during an eczema breakout. It is a life saver and calms redness and dry skin. After a few days I can go back to wearing eye make up.”

Another wrote: “Absolutely love this product. Really helped to get rid of menopause induced eczema and helps to repair the skin.” While a third added: “I have found this really works when I have a flare up of what seems to be hormonal dry skin around the eyes, only a small bit is needed around the eye, so (it) has lasted for quite some time.”

Others were not 100% sure on the product and deducted stars, with one saying: “The dry eye cream comes out quite quickly, BUT you mustn’t get it in your eye. I’m not too sure about it.”

Another wrote: “I didn’t find this product to be effective. I had to move to another product.”

However, overall, most were pleased with their purchase. Someone else said: “A real life saver. My eyelid was so dry and sore, no normal eye creams worked, after a few uses I finally had some relief.”
