Lovell to step down as Environment Agency chair

Alan Lovell will step down from his role as chair of the Environment Agency at the end of 2026 following an extended term in post.

The former Consumer Council for Water (CCW) chair took up the position at the Environment Agency in September 2022 and has used his experience to help lead the Environment Agency’s work on water, flood resilience and environmental protection.

During his time, he has also helped to strengthen the Environment Agency’s governance, improve its operational delivery and ensure there is focus on long-term environmental challenges.
