South Louisiana businesses and nonprofit groups recently announced the following promotions, new hires and resignations.

Jeff Mattia has been hired as executive chef of Boomtown Casino & Hotel New Orleans in Harvey. Mattia was previously been managing partner and chef at Pyre BBQ in Mandeville, executive chef at the Royal Sonesta and assistant executive chef at Hyatt Regency New Orleans.







Dr. Amelia Jernigan

Dr. Amelia Jernigan




Dr. Amelia Jernigan, a professor of gynecological oncology at LSU Health New Orleans and medical director of cancer services at University Medical Center New Orleans, has been named by LCMC Health as cancer service line director, a role focused on advancing cancer care and expanding access to oncology services.

Arnie Fielkow




Arnie Fielkow, a former president of the New Orleans City Council and former CEO of the Jewish Federation of Greater New Orleans, has been appointed by the New York-based nonprofit Razom for Ukraine to lead a six-month national program called Communities for Ukraine to raise awareness and build advocacy for the war-torn European nation.

Annie Claire Bass, the owner of SoSis Boutique and Annie Claire Designs, has been hired as the executive director of the West Baton Rouge Chamber of Commerce.

Dr. Hannah Cabre has been hired as an assistant professor at LSU’s Pennington Biomedical Research Center. Cabre, who has trained at the center as a postdoctoral fellow for the past three years, will lead the newly established Aging, Gynecology, and Endocrinology Laboratory.

Elizabeth Beard has been appointed as the next chancellor of LSU of Alexandria. Beard, who is LSUA’s provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs, will take over the chancellorship from Paul Coreil on July 1.
