The men allege that their passports were confiscated and subsequently replaced with new travel documents, after which they were forcibly moved toward the Ukraine border and issued weapons.

In a harrowing video message that has since surfaced, Mohammed Afzal Khan described the dire conditions of their confinement. “We are facing a lot of trouble here,” Khan stated in the footage. “They initially tasked us with different work, but now they are forcing us to perform entirely different duties. There is a huge problem. They have tied up two or three people.”

Khan, 44, further revealed that they are currently being held in a jungle environment and face physical retribution, including being tied to trees, whenever they attempt to voice their dissent or escape. Desperate for a resolution, the families have formally approached the Telangana government’s ‘Pravasi Prajavani’ cell—a specialized initiative designed to assist the families of Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) facing crises abroad.

The families are collectively urging both the state government and the Ministry of External Affairs to intervene immediately. Their primary demands include establishing the exact location of the four men, ensuring their immediate safety, and coordinating with the Indian Embassy in Moscow to secure their repatriation. As of now, the families are holding out hope that the Indian government will treat the matter with the urgency required to bring the men safely back to their homes in Telangana.
