An investigation was carried out into the reports
A major update has been issued after police were called to reports of a male acting suspiciously near a school in Oldham. Police increased their patrols in the Shaw area after the alarm was raised on July 3.
Local officers were also said to be working with local schools and businesses and reviewing nearby CCTV to identify the man involved, but no other details were initially revealed.
In an update, Greater Manchester Police confirmed that there was ‘no threat’ to pupils or staff. The man was later identified and he was a parent of a child at a nearby school who was carrying a Stanley knife due to carrying out works at a property nearby. No further action is being taken.
