Man dies in farm ‘industrial accident’ as emergency services descend


A man was found dead on the farm on Thursday

A man died in an industrial accident at a farm, with emergency services descending on the rual road. Emergency services rushed to the scene on Orrell Lane in Burscough at 4.37pm on Thursday, May 21, following reports of an industrial accident.

Emergency services arrived to find a man in his 80s had died. A Lancashire Police spokesperson said officers’ thoughts remain with the family of the man, with his death not being treated as suspicious.

The investigation has been handed over to the Health and Safety Executive.

A file is being prepared for the coroner.

The force spokesperson said: ” At 4:37pm on Friday 21st May we were called to reports of an industrial accident at a farm on Orrell Lane, Burscough.

“Emergency services attended and very sadly a man in his 80s was found deceased.

“Our thoughts are with his loved ones at this difficult time and they are being support by specially trained officers.

“His death is not being treated as suspicious.

“The Health Service Executive have been informed and a file will be passed to the coroner in due course.”
