Mohamed Salah could have played his final game for Liverpool after being forced off with an injury against Crystal Palace. Salah appeared to injure his left hamstring in the second half of their Premier League game at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.
The Egyptian star has announced that his season will be his last with Liverpool. He went down following a challenge on the edge of the Palace penalty area and immediately clutched his left leg.
After being seen by the medical staff, he was replaced by Jeremie Frimpong in the 59th minute, with Liverpool leading 2-0 following goals by Alexander Isak and Andy Robertson.
The 33-year-old received a warm round of applause from the Anfield crowd as he went off. He didn’t appear to be emotional, which could suggest the substitution was a precaution.

Speaking on Sky Sports‘ Soccer Saturday, ex-Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood said: “This could be the end of him in a Liverpool shirt. You can see him grab his left hamstring. What a sad end for him. What an ovation there will be for him.”
Liverpool have four games left in the 2025/26 season following the Palace game. Having been knocked out of the Champions League by Paris Saint-Germain, and the FA Cup by Manchester City, they are purely focused on the league and securing a place in next season’s Champions League.
Salah has 12 goals and nine assists in 39 appearances for Liverpool this season. He signed a lucrative two-year contract, worth around £350,000-a-week last year, but decided to leave early at the end of the campaign. He has made 440 appearances for Liverpool altogether, scoring 257 goals.
He announced his decision a month ago, saying: “I wanted to start by saying that I never imagined how deeply this club, this city, these people, would become part of my life. Liverpool, it’s not a just a football club. It’s a passion. It’s a history. It’s a spirit. I can’t explain in words to anyone not part of this club.
“We celebrated victory. We won the most important trophies. And we fought together through the hardest time in our life.
“I want to thank everyone who was part of this club throughout my time here, especially the team-mates, past and present. And to the fans: I don’t have enough words. The support you showed me through the best time of my career and you stood by me in the toughest times. It’s something I will never forget, and something I will take with me always.
“Leaving is never easy. You gave me the best time of my life. I always be one of you. This club will always be my home, to me and to my family. Thank you for everything. Because of all of you, I will never walk alone.”
