Romano Fenati ( Moto2, Misano 2018)
• Not against a marshal, but it is the most famous disciplinary case in recent years.
• During the race, he deliberately applied the brake on Stefano Manzi’s motorcycle.
• He was disqualified from the next Grand Prix and then had his license suspended for several months.
Formula 1
Sebastian Vettel – 2017 Azerbaijan Grand Prix
• Under the Safety Car, he pulled up alongside Lewis Hamilton and intentionally bumped him.
• He received a severe penalty and three points on his superlicense, but no suspension.
Max Verstappen – Brazil 2018
• After contact with Ocon, he repeatedly shoved the French driver in the paddock.
• The FIA imposed community service related to motorsports on him instead of a suspension.
The case that most closely resembles the one involving Bezzecchi is probably that of Nelson Piquet at the 1982 German Grand Prix, when, after a collision with Eliseo Salazar, he got out of his car and physically struck him on the track. He was fined but not suspended.
What likely led to the suspension was the fact that Marco Bezzecchi already had a prior offense. It happened in 2022, in Valencia, and he was fined 1,000 euros for shoving a race official during FP3.
In the opening minutes of the session, the VR46 rider had crashed at Turn 7, and his Ducati caught fire upon impact.
