Harborough MP Neil O’Brien has been promised a meeting with the Environment Agency to examine concerns of suspected pollution and foul smells in the town.
The MP said residents had raised concerns for ‘several years’ about the condition of the pond and surrounding streams near Rodney Close in the town.
And they said they were becoming frustrated at being passed between different organisations in a bid to get answers.
Representatives from Harborough District Council and West Northamptonshire District Council are set to attend the meeting, which is due to take place in the coming weeks.

Mr O’Brien said: “For far too long, residents have been passed from pillar to post while trying to get answers about this issue.
“People have had to put up with foul odours and concerns about the condition of the local watercourse, while different organisations have argued over who is responsible.
“I am pleased that, following pressure from residents, Cllr David Page and myself, the Environment Agency has now agreed to attend a site meeting.
“This is an important breakthrough, but it must now lead to action. Residents deserve clear answers and a plan to resolve this issue once and for all.”
