Naughty Dog, the storied developer behind The Last of Us and Uncharted, has reached a pivotal stage in the production of its upcoming sci-fi epic, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. The studio officially announced on Monday that it has wrapped production on the project’s cinematic content, marking a significant step forward for the highly anticipated PlayStation 5 exclusive.

The studio shared the news via a post on Bluesky, accompanied by a behind-the-scenes image of lead actress Tati Gabrielle in a performance capture suit, brandishing a prop firearm.
“That is a wrap on the very ambitious Intergalactic cinematic shoot!” the studio wrote. “This cast killed it! Cannot wait to show you their incredible work when the time is right!”
While the image offers only a glimpse behind the curtain, the milestone serves as a vital indicator of where the game sits in its overall development cycle. Historically, the conclusion of performance capture at Naughty Dog signals a transition from filming to the intensive phases of lighting, polish, and final engine integration.
Estimating the Release Window
To gauge when players might get their hands on the title, industry observers have pointed to the development timeline of The Last of Us Part 2. In April 2019, director Neil Druckmann confirmed that performance capture for that title had wrapped; despite initial plans for a February 2020 launch, the game was delayed by a few months to ensure the final product met Naughty Dog’s high standards for polish, eventually debuting in June 2020.
Applying a similar timeline to Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet suggests a potential release window in mid-2027. While Naughty Dog has yet to commit to an official date, the completion of cinematics puts the game firmly in its final major development phase.
