April 20 (Asia Today) — South Korea’s Naver has signed a strategic memorandum of understanding with India’s Tata Consultancy Services to expand its presence in the country’s technology market.
The agreement was signed Monday in New Delhi during the Korea-India Business Forum, where Naver Chief Executive Officer Choi Soo-yeon and Tata Consultancy Services Representative Ujwal Mathur formalized the partnership. The event was attended by South Korean Industry Minister Kim Jeong-kwan and Indian Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal.
Tata Consultancy Services, part of the Tata Group, is India’s largest IT services provider with annual revenue of $30 billion. The company operates in more than 100 countries, offering services across sectors including banking, manufacturing, healthcare and telecommunications.
Under the agreement, the two companies will combine Naver’s artificial intelligence and cloud technologies with the Indian firm’s industry-specific infrastructure to pursue business opportunities in India. The partnership aims to develop localized digital transformation projects by leveraging Naver’s platform capabilities and Tata Consultancy Services’ data assets.
Choi said the collaboration comes as India accelerates efforts to become a global leader in artificial intelligence.
“We will create new business opportunities in the local market through technological cooperation,” she said.
Naver said it plans to use the partnership as a foundation to expand its AI and cloud operations in India.
