Pooja Singh Falls Short, Relay Team Finishes 9th
Despite high expectations, Pooja Singh, one of India’s most promising high jumpers, finished seventh in the women’s final. The 19-year-old athlete successfully cleared 1.84m but was unable to clear 1.87m in her three attempts. This performance was notably below her national senior record of 1.93m, which she set earlier in May while securing gold at the Asian U20 Championships, highlighting the intense competitive nature of the global event.
The gold medal in the women’s high jump was claimed by Australia’s Izobelle Louison-Roe with a clearance of 1.92m. Hungary’s Lilianna Batori and Spain’s Aitana Alonso shared the silver and bronze medals respectively, showcasing the diverse international talent.
