Dhupia is set to appear in 52 Blue, an ambitious project helmed by acclaimed Egyptian filmmaker Ali El Arabi. In the film, Dhupia portrays Lakshmi, a devoted mother whose son harbors a singular, life-changing dream: to meet football icon Lionel Messi during the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The film has already garnered significant attention on the international circuit. Following its North American premiere at the Washington, DC International Film Festival in April 2026, it served as the opening film for the London Indian Film Festival at BFI Southbank in July. It has also earned an official selection at the prestigious Indian Film Festival of Melbourne, marking a major milestone in Dhupia’s professional trajectory.

“I love this business. I honestly have nothing against the business. I love the industry. I don’t know anything else,” she stated. Rather than citing external factors for any perceived career plateaus, Dhupia offered a mature, introspective take: “I feel like it’s a combination of lack of opportunity plus opportunities not created by me either. Sometimes before blaming what’s going on on the outside, you’ve got to look within. Maybe I didn’t put out this signal.”

“The one thing that I stopped doing is comparing myself. And I feel my success lies in that,” she shared. “For a very long time, I was comparing. A lot of people will be like, ‘But you’ve done so much.’ It’s the comparison that makes you feel unsuccessful. The day you realize that your success lies in completely different places and you stop comparing yourself, that’s when things change.”
