It has been confirmed that Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola will leave the club after ten years.
Pep Guardiola will leave Manchester City this summer after ten years at the Etihad. As has been reported this week and expected for longer, the manager will not see out a contract that runs until 2027, instead bidding farewell with a home game against Aston Villa on Sunday and then a parade the following day.
City, who have managed to keep Guardiola for many more years than even they dreamed – his longest managerial spell when he arrived was four years at his boyhood club Barcelona – worked until the last second to keep their coach again. Despite the news breaking on Monday night, Guardiola said it was only fair for him to speak to chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak one last time before rubber-stamping his decision.
This time, though, Al Mubarak was unable to do what he has been so successful at before in finding a way to convince Guardiola to stay. The Catalan’s mind is made up and he will leave English football this week, with Enzo Maresca expected to replace him at the Etihad and a job in the international game a likely next move for Guardiola.

Guardiola leaves with another two trophies this season – the FA Cup and Carabao Cup – as well as a second-placed finish in the Premier League and Champions League qualification for next year. He has added 20 trophies to City’s cabinet in 10 years, including their first-ever Champions League and Club World Cup and increasing their league titles won from four to ten.
