Parking restrictions will be in force at Stoke-on-Trent’s newest Lidl store after plans to install signage were rubber-stamped by the city council. The new branch at Festival Park will become the 10th in North Staffordshire when it opens its doors from 8am on Thursday (June 11).
It comes almost six years after the scheme at the junction of Pavilion Drive and Cobridge Road had been approved. As the finishes touches were being made, the discount supermarket chain also recently had an advertisement consent application rubber-stamped by planners for 15 non-illuminated signs associated with the ANPR camera.
In a council report recommending approval, case officer Adam Kirkham-Ford states: “The proposed adverts are deemed acceptable with respect to the prevailing urban context and associated approved development. No relevant consultees have raised any objection to the proposal and with the conditions below imposed to control basic elements, the scheme is deemed acceptable.”

According to the signage in the application, the camera controlled car park will allow a maximum stay of 90 minutes at no charge. Shoppers who breach this face a £90 fine. The parking condition apply 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The new store has created dozens of jobs. It will open Monday to Saturday 8am until 10pm and between 10am and 4pm on Sundays.
