Saif Ali Khan Ready to Pivot to Television: “I Am Not Closed to the Idea of Anything”

Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan, known for his versatile performances across both cinema and digital platforms, has finally addressed the long-standing speculation regarding his absence from television hosting. While contemporaries like Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, and Ajay Devgn have established a strong footprint in the world of reality television, the Race actor has largely remained focused on his theatrical and streaming ventures.

However, in a recent, candid interview with Variety India, the actor revealed that he is now more open than ever to exploring the small screen.

A New Chapter in Hosting?

When asked about his potential foray into TV, Saif did not shy away from the prospect. “I would love to host one. It is what we call a revenue stream. Of late, so many have opened up, and why not? I am not closed to the idea of anything. I would love to do a gig on TV,” the actor stated.

Reflecting on why this transition hasn’t happened sooner, Saif admitted that it largely came down to the nature of the projects presented to him. “Somebody was talking to me about doing a show once or twice, but it did not work out,” he explained. “Perhaps I was not excited or interested enough in that particular offer at that given time. Now, I think it might be the right time.”

Breaking Barriers: OTT vs. Theatrical Stardom

Beyond television, Saif also addressed the ongoing industry debate regarding the hierarchy of platforms. Dismissing the notion that streaming content is viewed as “lesser” work by mainstream film stars, the actor maintained a progressive stance.

“That’s a very age-old conversation that I am supposed to be a Friday mainstream theatrical actor. I never thought like that,” he asserted. Pointing to his seminal work on the acclaimed web series Sacred Games, he added, “Working on Sacred Games was epic fun. You never felt that you were making lesser cinema. Also, we had Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane directing it. They are at the top of their game. It was a beautiful piece of film.”

Upcoming Projects

As Saif Ali Khan continues to evolve his career and explore new formats, fans can look forward to seeing him return to the big screen alongside Akshay Kumar. The duo is set to star in Priyadarshan’s upcoming film, Haiwaan, which is slated for a theatrical release on September 11.

Whether through his acting projects or a potential new television hosting gig, it is clear that Saif remains one of the most adaptable stars in the Indian entertainment industry, constantly looking for the next creative challenge.
