Renowned filmmaker David Dhawan recently celebrated his 75th birthday surrounded by a distinguished gathering of his closest friends and colleagues from the Bollywood fraternity. The intimate affair, held on a Sunday, saw the presence of superstar Salman Khan, prolific producer Sajid Nadiadwala, and several other notable personalities, all converging to honor the veteran director.

Writer Rumy Jafry shared a series of heartwarming photographs from the celebratory event, offering a glimpse into the joyous occasion. The images captured the birthday celebrant, David Dhawan, beaming alongside Salman Khan, Sajid Nadiadwala, and his sons, Rohit and Varun Dhawan. One particularly endearing snapshot showcased the group gathered around the birthday cake, with David at the heart of the celebration, as his son Varun tenderly planted a kiss on his cheek. Accompanying these charming visuals, Jafry penned a heartfelt message, extending warm wishes to David Dhawan for continued health and happiness.

A striking element of the celebration was Salman Khan’s notable appearance, showcasing a dramatically leaner physique as part of his ongoing physical transformation for an upcoming film. The actor, sporting an all-black ensemble complemented by a stylish cowboy hat, presented a refreshed and refined look. This new appearance follows reports of Salman shedding approximately 12 kilograms for his forthcoming project, SVC63. This significant weight loss marks a departure from his bulkier portrayal of a war hero in the film ‘Maatrubhumi,’ as he strives for a more streamlined aesthetic. Slated for an Eid 2027 release, SVC63 will notably feature Khan opposite actress Nayanthara, marking their first on-screen collaboration.

The professional and personal camaraderie between David Dhawan and Salman Khan is well-documented, evidenced by their numerous successful cinematic collaborations and their shared presence at various industry events and personal milestones. Their joint filmography boasts a collection of popular hits, including “Judwaa” (1997), “Biwi No. 1” (1999), “Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge” (2000), and “Chal Mere Bhai” (2000), among others.

Adding another layer of warmth to the birthday festivities, veteran actor Anupam Kher conveyed a deeply moving message to David Dhawan. Kher took to social media to share two cherished photographs and a lengthy, reflective note detailing their long-standing friendship and parallel professional journeys. He recalled their early days, mentioning Dhawan’s role as the editor of his debut film, “Saaransh,” and how that marked the beginning of a friendship and a cinematic partnership spanning over a dozen films and many memorable years. Kher’s poignant reminiscences included vivid details of Dhawan’s Lambretta scooter, his modest flat on Carter Road, and the unforgettable hospitality of Lali’s egg bhurji and special parathas, all infused with a pervasive sense of warmth and affection that, he noted, remains undimmed to this day. He lauded Dhawan’s “extraordinary ability to make shooting for your films look effortless” and his unparalleled gift for bringing ease, laughter, warmth, madness, and joy to every situation. Kher concluded his heartfelt tribute by expressing his enduring love and best wishes for Dhawan to continue his remarkable career of filmmaking, storytelling, and spreading happiness.

David Dhawan’s extensive directorial repertoire includes a string of critically acclaimed and commercially successful films such as “Swarg,” “Shola Aur Shabnam,” “Bol Radha Bol,” “Raja Babu,” “Coolie No.1,” “Saajan Chale Sasural,” “Judwaa,” “Hero No. 1,” “Mr. and Mrs. Khiladi,” “Deewana Mastana,” “Bade Miyan Chote Miyan,” and “Haseena Maan Jaayegi,” among many others, solidifying his legacy as a significant figure in Indian cinema.
