Bathing advice at Sandwich Bay has been lifted after a burst sewer pipe led to concerns about pollution.
The Environment Agency had advised people not to enter the water after a Southern Water wastewater main burst in Kent.
Dover District Council said sewage had been discharged into a stream near the River Stour following the incident.
Southern Water said wastewater was rerouted within its network while repairs took place. The company said independent environmental specialists had been carrying out water quality sampling and environmental monitoring, and latest results showed any initial impact had passed.
A council statement on social media, external had said the authority had posted signs in the area, and people had been advised not to enter the water while the warning remained in place.
Southern Water said the sewer pipe had burst between Golf Road Wastewater Pumping Station in Deal and Weatherlees Wastewater Treatment Works in Ramsgate.
A spokesperson for the water company said: “We continue to work closely with the Environment Agency, and we’re sorry for the concern this incident has caused local residents and businesses.”
