Tragic Death: Young Woman Killed in Hyderabad by Speeding Aston Martin Linked to Politician’s Son
HYDERABAD – A peaceful lunch hour in Hyderabad turned into a scene of unimaginable horror on Wednesday, as a 26-year-old woman was struck and killed by a speeding Aston Martin. The incident, which has sparked widespread public outrage, has led to a police investigation involving the son of a prominent politician.
The victim, identified as Bharati Mukhi, was crossing the road while returning to her workplace when the luxury vehicle slammed into her. The impact was fatal; witnesses reported that Mukhi sustained severe head injuries and was left in a pool of blood as bystanders screamed in shock.
A disturbing video of the aftermath has circulated on social media, capturing the desperate pleas of witnesses and the somber reality of the scene. In the footage, a man is seen frantically banging on the hood of the bright red Aston Martin, crying out for the driver to stop, while the victim lies motionless nearby. The driver, identified by police as 21-year-old Lingameneni Sanjush, is seen stepping out of the vehicle briefly before returning to the car to retrieve his phone.
The Victim: A Story of Ambition Cut Short
Bharati Mukhi, originally from Mayurbhanj, Odisha, had moved to Hyderabad to build a better life for her family. Her mother, Anandini Mukhi, shared that her daughter had shown immense resilience, refusing to let the setbacks of the COVID-19 pandemic derail her education. Determined to support her family, she had secured a role as a sales executive at the Lifestyle store in Inorbit Mall.
"She was full of dreams," a source close to the family noted. Those dreams were abruptly silenced in an incident that authorities are now meticulously investigating.
Police Investigation and Legal Standing
The Madhapur Police have registered a case against Sanjush under Section 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Sanjush is the son of Lingamaneni Ramesh, a businessman and a Rajya Sabha MP from the Janasena Party, which is led by Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan.
To determine if intoxication played a role in the fatal collision, officers have conducted both drug and alcohol tests on the driver. Blood samples have been forwarded to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for conclusive analysis, and the vehicle has been seized as evidence.
Despite the gravity of the incident, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Madhapur) Ch. Sridhar confirmed that Sanjush has not been taken into custody. "A notice has been served to the accused," Sridhar stated, explaining that because the specific charges carry a maximum penalty of less than seven years, the offense is legally classified as bailable.
As the community awaits the final post-mortem report and forensic results, the case remains under active investigation. The tragedy has once again ignited a national conversation regarding road safety, the behavior of high-end vehicle operators on public streets, and the legal repercussions for those involved in fatal accidents.
