Acclaimed Gujarati and Marathi actor Dharmendra Gohil plays the father of Ahvaan Kumar’s character in writer-director Neeru Sharma’s award-winning short film Bandra Boy. The veteran actor says he was impressed by Sharma’s ability to tell a compelling story within a short runtime. “I have worked with several debut directors in my career, and I consider myself lucky for many of them. The character I play in Bandra Boy is very interesting and well-written. Telling a complete and impactful story within just twenty minutes is not easy, but Neeru Sharma has done a remarkable job. She extracted the best performances from every actor and handled the narrative with great clarity,” says Gohil.Lead actor Ahvaan Kumar says the role challenged him because it was unlike his real-life personality. “My character is very different from who I am as a person, and that is what made the role exciting for me. I thoroughly enjoyed playing it. Neeruji guided me through every scene and emotion. I simply followed her vision and kept performing. I am grateful to her for trusting me with this role,” he says. Speaking about the film’s response, Ahvaan adds, “The film has won recognition at film festivals, and that motivates all of us. Everyone involved in the project comes from a strong theatre background, and every actor has delivered an honest performance.”
