Ten people have been remanded into custody following a major crackdown on a suspected organized drug trafficking network operating across Watford and Luton.
The arrests mark the conclusion of a wide-ranging, months-long police investigation into the supply of Class A drugs in the region. Between August and October, officers executed a series of search warrants at multiple addresses in both towns, leading to the seizure of significant quantities of cocaine and over £20,000 in cash.
The operation has resulted in charges for nine men and one woman. Among those facing the most serious charges is 39-year-old Mohammed Ahsan Khan, of Durban Road West, Watford, who has been charged with being concerned in the supply of cocaine and heroin, as well as modern-day slavery offences and conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm (GBH).
Also appearing in court is Samina Khan, 48, of Durban Road West, Watford, who faces charges of being concerned in the supply of cocaine and participating in the activities of an organized crime group. Additionally, 47-year-old Sulleyman Bhatti, of Chester Road, Watford, has been charged with arson with intent.
Seven other individuals have been charged with being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine and heroin:
* Mubbasher Ali, 32, of Humberstone Road, Luton
* Nasser Shabbir, 29, of Runley Road, Luton
* Mohammed Hamas, 31, of Chester Road, Watford
* Syed Khan, 29, of Leabridge Corner, East Hyde, Luton
* Asadullah Muzaffar, 31, of Leavesden Road, Watford
* Abbas Yousaf, 31, of Southsea Avenue, Watford
* Wajed Qayum, 38, of Whippendell Road, Watford
Detective Inspector Sam Alcock, who led the operation, stated that the arrests are the culmination of intensive work aimed at dismantling networks supplying heroin and cocaine to the Watford area between 2025 and 2026.
“Drug dealing and associated criminal activity causes harm and suffering to our local communities, and combatting organized criminal gangs remains one of our main priorities,” DI Alcock said.
Following the charges, police have reiterated the importance of community involvement in tackling local crime. “We rely on intelligence from the public to help us bring drug suppliers to justice,” the Detective Inspector added. “If you have any information, please report it to us.”
All 10 defendants have been remanded in custody as legal proceedings against them continue.
