Netflix Greenlights ‘The Gentlemen’ Season 3 as Season 2 Trailer Builds Anticipation

In a major win for fans of high-octane British crime dramas, Netflix officially announced on Monday that the hit series The Gentlemen has been renewed for a third season. The news arrives just as excitement reaches a fever pitch with the release of the Season 2 trailer, ahead of the series’ highly anticipated September 3 premiere.

Expanding the Criminal Empire

Created by visionary filmmaker Guy Ritchie, the series—a spin-off of his acclaimed 2019 feature film—continues to follow the exploits of Eddie Horniman (played by Theo James) and Susie Glass (Kaya Scodelario). According to the official logline for Season 2, the stakes are higher than ever: “Ambition can’t be tamed… With Bobby standing in the way of expanding the criminal empire, Eddie and Susie must decide whether to fall in line or make their own moves.”

The narrative trajectory for the upcoming episodes sees the duo attempting to take their illicit cannabis operation onto the international stage, with the lush lakeside villas of Italy serving as the backdrop for their power plays. As Eddie’s influence grows, he finds himself navigating the treacherous waters of Britain’s aristocracy, crossing paths with a new character played by Downton Abbey star Hugh Bonneville.

Returning Faces and New Chapters

The production is pulling out all the stops for its ongoing success, with Ray Winstone returning as the formidable Bobby Glass. Also reprising their roles are Harry Goodwins (Jack Glass), Joely Richardson (Lady Sabrina), Daniel Ings (Freddy Horniman), Jasmine Blackborow (Charly Horniman), and Vinnie Jones (Geoff Seacombe).

While fans have been swirling with rumors regarding the potential casting of Meghan Markle in the future, Netflix has yet to confirm any such involvement. Meanwhile, pre-production for Season 3 is already underway. The third outing will consist of eight episodes, with Guy Ritchie set to return to the director’s chair and co-write the scripts alongside Matthew Read.

Reflecting on the show’s momentum, Ritchie noted, “The ambition of The Gentlemen has accelerated, the world has expanded and the consequences carry weight. A third season felt inevitable, and I’m looking forward to pushing the boundaries of it further.”

Netflix’s Strategic UK Slate

The early renewal of The Gentlemen underscores Netflix’s aggressive commitment to its roster of high-performing UK originals. The streamer has been rapidly expanding its portfolio, with recent renewals and orders for hits such as Black Mirror, Supacell, Black Doves, and the upcoming House of Guinness.

As Season 2 prepares to drop this September, the promise of a third installment ensures that the complex, stylish, and dangerous world created by Ritchie will remain a staple of the platform for the foreseeable future.
