CD Projekt Red Recruits Renowned Modder to Elevate The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered
In a move that highlights the powerful bridge between community passion and professional development, CD Projekt Red has officially enlisted the help of a celebrated modder to ensure the upcoming The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered looks better than ever.
The developer has brought in the creator known as HalkHogan, the mastermind behind the widely acclaimed “The Witcher 3 HD Rework Project” (HDRP). With over 320,000 unique downloads and 1.6 million views on Nexus Mods, the HDRP mod has long been the gold standard for players looking to modernize the visuals of the 2015 RPG classic.
A Formal Collaboration
HalkHogan took to their Nexus Mods page to announce the partnership, confirming that their expertise will be baked directly into the official remaster. Addressing their followers, the modder explained that the independent HDRP mod will no longer be necessary once the update launches.
“Hello, my Witcher friends! It’s been a while since the last news, and I would like to clarify any questions and confirm that I am cooperating with CDPR on the Witcher 3 Remaster,” HalkHogan stated. “My work will be officially available in the game on September 29th (on PC and consoles). HDRP will no longer be needed.”
The modder revealed that they have been working extensively on high-fidelity assets, noting that “almost all in-game characters, monsters, animals, vegetation, armors, and equipment for Geralt and Roach,” alongside a vast portion of the environmental textures, have been overhauled. “I’ve put a lot of effort into ensuring the highest quality,” they added.
A Massive Upgrade for a Modern Era
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered was officially unveiled at gamescom Opening Night Live (ONL) 2026. The title is slated for a September 29, 2026, release, bringing a significant visual and technical leap to PC, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
Beyond the graphical enhancements, it has been an exciting time for the community. The gamescom showcase also provided a first look at the surprise expansion, Songs of the Past.
