The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered to Officially Integrate Fan-Made Mods

CD Projekt Red is doubling down on its commitment to the modding community, confirming that the highly anticipated The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered will feature professional-grade enhancements created by fan developers.

The announcement comes directly from HalkHogan, the renowned creator behind the The Witcher 3 HD Reworked Project (HDRP). Addressing the community on the Nexus Mods forum, the modder confirmed a formal partnership with the Polish studio to bring his graphical overhaul directly into the base game experience.

“It’s been a while since the last news and I would like to clarify any questions and confirm that I am cooperating with CDPR on the The Witcher 3 Remastered and my work will be officially available in the game on September 29th,” HalkHogan wrote. “HDRP will no longer be needed.”

The integration is extensive, touching on nearly every visual pillar of the iconic open-world RPG. According to HalkHogan, the collaboration covers a vast array of in-game assets, including monsters, animal models, vegetation, and intricate character textures. Furthermore, both Geralt’s gear and Roach’s equipment have received significant overhauls to ensure the title meets modern high-fidelity standards.

“I’ve put a lot of effort into ensuring the highest quality,” he added, noting that the update will be available across both PC and consoles when it launches on September 29, 2027.

This marks a deepening relationship between CD Projekt Red and the modding scene. HalkHogan’s previous work—the original HD Reworked Project, now referred to as the “OldGen Edition”—was previously integrated into the game’s 2022 next-gen update, proving that the studio values community contributions as a cornerstone of their remastering efforts.

The news coincides with a busy period for the franchise. During a recent Gamescom 2026 showcase, CD Projekt Red treated fans to extended gameplay footage of the upcoming remaster, providing a clearer look at the visual leaps players can expect. Additionally, the brand is expanding its presence in the wider gaming landscape, with Geralt of Rivia recently confirmed to appear as a guest character skin in Diablo 4.

With the release date set for September 29, 2027, fans can look forward to a definitive version of the Continent that blends the studio’s official polish with the dedicated craftsmanship of its most talented community members.
