Gary and Kim Nein, the dedicated proprietors behind Bargenta in Argenta, have nurtured a vibrant community hub over the past decade. Their commitment has solidified the bar’s presence, sustaining it into its second decade with a limited but beloved food menu, all thanks to the strong relationships forged within the community.
“It’s been great,” Kim Nein shared, her voice reflecting genuine gratitude. “We’ve got a great community, great support, and an amazing staff.” This sentiment underscores the core values that have propelled Bargenta’s enduring success.
A Rarity in Hospitality: Unwavering Staff Loyalty
One of Bargenta’s most striking achievements, and a rarity in the notoriously high-turnover hospitality industry, is its ability to retain its original staff since opening its doors ten years ago. This speaks volumes about the positive work environment fostered by the Neins.
“It’s mainly family and friends that work for us, and they’ve been there since the very beginning,” Kim Nein explained with evident pride. “We’ve kept the same staff for the 10 years, and we’re really proud of that.” This dedication to their team has undoubtedly contributed to the welcoming and familiar atmosphere that patrons have come to appreciate at Bargenta.
Beyond the Bar: Festivals and Community Celebrations
While Bargenta may not boast an extensive culinary repertoire – focusing on popular frozen Turbo Fire pizzas made in Springfield for its daily offerings – its commitment to community engagement extends far beyond its regular menu. The establishment is gearing up for two significant events that promise to bring the community together in celebration.
On September 12th, Bargenta will host its much-anticipated annual Blues, Brews and Barbecue Festival, a highlight on the local events calendar. This event not only provides entertainment but also showcases Bargenta’s role as a gathering place for music, good company, and delicious food.
Furthermore, Bargenta is set to partner with the village of Argenta for its America 250 Celebration in mid-September. This collaborative effort demonstrates the establishment’s deep roots and dedication to celebrating national milestones within a local context.
“We will have local food trucks setting up at that event, and then the village will also have food trucks set up,” Kim Nein detailed, highlighting the festive atmosphere patrons can expect. “They’re doing their thing down at the park, and we’re doing ours on Elm Street, right in front of the bar.” This coordinated effort ensures a broad and engaging celebration for all attendees, showcasing the vibrant spirit of Argenta.
